I haven’t actually made it to Fahy, though I have been fairly close by in Porrentruy. Exploring the rest of that bulge is on the list someday.
One place you missed out on just next to the Tête de Moine producing Bellelay is the village of Moron. I haven’t managed to figure out where the name comes from but there are also Moron mountains, forests, lake, and cliffs in the Jura (there was a beautiful Moron tower but sadly it partly collapsed). The village itself is marked with the wonderfully unfortunate ‘Moron village’ on hiking network signs.
Also regarding smoking. One factor could be the number of smokers is very different. Hardly anyone seems to smoke in the UK in comparison to Switzerland (though about a third of the UK economy seems to be based around Vape shops these days).
